Sports Readiness Assessment in Mornington

Objective testing that shows whether you’re ready to return to sport and what to work on if you’re not there yet.

Know you're ready, rather than hoping

Pain usually settles well before strength, power and control have fully recovered, so feeling good isn’t always the same as being ready. A Sports Readiness Assessment measures how your body is performing against clear criteria, so you, your coach and your surgeon can make the call with real information.

It works as the final step of our Return to Sport program or as a stand-alone assessment if you’ve done your rehab elsewhere. When you meet the criteria, Yannick can sign you off to return to sport. No GP referral needed.

One-on-one sessions, open 7 days

WorkCover welcome. Health fund rebates on the spot.

How the assessment works

One session, four parts. You leave knowing where you stand and what comes next.

  1. 1

    History and goals

Your injury or surgery, the rehab you've done so far and what your sport and position demand.

  2. 2

    Strength testing

Measured strength of the injured side compared with the uninjured side.

  3. 3

    Hop, jump and agility

Hopping, landing, cutting and change of direction, building up to sport speed.

  4. 4

    Your results

Where you're ready, where you're not yet and a clear plan to close the gaps. Meet the criteria and Yannick can sign you off to return.

What we test

We test the things that matter for getting back to your sport and staying there.

Strength symmetry

Strength of the injured side measured against the uninjured side.

Hop and jump testing

Single-leg hops for distance, rhythm and landing control.

Agility and change of direction

How confidently you cut, decelerate and react.

Sport-specific tasks

Running, kicking, throwing or jumping loads that match your sport.

Psychological readiness

How confident you feel about going back, measured with a short questionnaire.

Who it's for

Athletes of all ages and levels across the Mornington Peninsula. A readiness assessment may suit you if you’re:

Coming back from an ACL reconstruction or other knee surgery
Returning after an ankle, hamstring or shoulder injury
Finished rehab elsewhere and want an objective check
Heading into preseason or a new season
A junior athlete whose parents or coach want clear criteria
Returning to sport after a long break
Sports Physio

Clear numbers for a clear decision

Going back before you are fully ready is a common reason injuries come back. Measuring strength, power and control gives you something more reliable than a date on the calendar or a gut feeling.

Your results show exactly how the injured side compares, so the decision to return is based on evidence. If there are gaps, you’ll know what they are and how to close them, with the same strength-led approach we use in all of our sports physiotherapy.

Frequently asked questions

Do I need a referral?

No. You can book directly with us. If you’re under a surgeon, it helps to bring your surgical report or any guidelines they’ve given you.

Do I need to be a Peak Motion patient?

No. The assessment is open to anyone, including athletes who have done their rehab with another clinic and want an objective check before returning.

How long does the assessment take?

Each assessment session is 45 minutes. That covers your history, testing and going through your results.

What should I bring?

Your usual training shoes, clothes you can run and jump in and any scans, surgical reports or rehab notes you have.

Can you sign me off to return to sport?

Yes. When your results meet the return to sport criteria, Yannick can sign you off, so you, your coach and your club know you are cleared to return.

What happens if I'm not ready yet?

You’ll know exactly which areas need work. We can build that into a return to sport program with us or you can take the results back to your own physio or coach.

Can I claim it on my health fund?

If your extras cover includes physiotherapy, you may be able to claim part of the cost. We can process health fund rebates on the spot.
