Return to Sport Physiotherapy in Mornington

Strength-led rehab that takes you from injury or surgery back to full training, ready, not just pain-free.

Rehab built around criteria, not the calendar

Pain usually settles long before strength, power and control have fully recovered. Our return to sport program takes you from injury or surgery back to full training and competition, using clear strength and performance criteria rather than guesswork or a date on the calendar.

Every session is one-on-one with Yannick, a Doctor of Physiotherapy with strength and conditioning experience at VFL and VFLW clubs. No GP referral needed.

One-on-one sessions, open 7 days

WorkCover and NDIS welcome. Health fund rebates on the spot.

Our return to sport pathway

Five stages, each with a clear goal. You move on when you meet the criteria, not when the calendar says so.

  1. 1

    Assess and settle

We assess your injury, surgery and sport, settle pain and swelling, restore range and set a realistic timeline.

  2. 2

    Rebuild strength

Progressive, heavy strength work for the injured area and everything around it.

  3. 3

    Power, speed and control

Jumping, landing, sprinting and change of direction, from controlled drills up to sport speed.

  4. 4

    Sport-specific training

Drills matched to your sport and position, then modified and full training with your club.

  5. 5

    Test and return

Objective strength, hop and agility testing against clear return to sport criteria.

Not sure which stage you're at? We'll tell you at your first appointment.

How we measure readiness

Before you go back to full training, we test the things that predict whether you’ll stay there.

Strength symmetry

Strength of the injured side measured against the uninjured side.

Hop and jump testing

Single-leg hops for distance, rhythm and landing control.

Agility and change of direction

How confidently you cut, decelerate and react.

Sport-specific tasks

Running, kicking, throwing or jumping loads that match your sport.

Psychological readiness

Fear of reinjury is common, so we build confidence as part of rehab.

Strength training gym used for return to sport rehab in Mornington

Strength-led, gym-based rehab, with your team in the loop

Return to sport rehab needs real load. Our on-site gym and access to Train 247 take your rehab beyond resistance bands into the heavy strength and power work your sport demands. Once you’re back, our Strength & Conditioning program helps you stay there.

After surgery, we follow your surgeon’s protocol and keep them updated. With your permission, we also work with your coach or club trainer, so everyone follows the same plan and you aren’t pulled back into full training too soon.

Frequently asked questions

How long does return to sport take?

It depends on the injury and your sport. A mild ankle sprain may take a few weeks; ACL reconstruction typically takes 9 to 12 months. We’ll give you a realistic timeline at your first appointment and update it as you progress.

When should I start rehab after surgery?

As soon as your surgeon allows. Early rehab helps control swelling and maintain strength.

What is return to sport testing?

Objective strength, hop and agility tests that show whether your body is ready for the demands of your sport. We run it as a standalone Sports Readiness Assessment, which you can also book if you did your rehab elsewhere.

Can you work with my club or coach?

Yes. With your permission, we can share progress and guidance with your coach or club trainer.

Is it covered by private health or WorkCover?

Most private health extras cover physiotherapy. We also see WorkCover clients. Call us and we’ll help you work out what you can claim.
